FAQ >> Opening ZIP Files Generated by myRepono

myRepono uses ZIP files to organise your backup data. ZIP files are single files which can contain multiple files, they enable us to transfer multiple files as a single download - once you have downloaded a ZIP file the individual files can then be extracted from the ZIP file onto your computer or web server. ZIP files use compression and therefore a ZIP file usually has a smaller filesize than the combined filesize of the files it contains.

myRepono uses 64-Bit ZIP files, rather than 32-Bit ZIP files which are limited to 65,535 files and have various filesize limitations.

ZIP files can be opened using popular ZIP file software such as WinZIP, WinRAR or 7ZIP, or using a command-line ZIP tool.

Please note, Microsoft Windows in-built ZIP file support is not compatible with ZIP files generated by myRepono, please use appropriate ZIP file software instead.
