We are very pleased to announce the addition of numerous new features which enhance and improve the myRepono website backup service.

Domain Profiles

When updating your domain settings you now have the option to add up to 10 domain profiles (per domain).

Domain profiles enable you to setup different settings for your domain without the need to re-add the domain, the key reason for the domain profiles system is to give you more control over your backup schedule, and more importantly what backups are stored.
 
For example, if your 1st domain profile provides daily backups with 30 backups stored you will be storing 1 month of backups. By adding a 2nd profile with monthly backups and which stores 24 backups you will therefore be storing monthly backups for 2 years, along with your daily backups for the previous month. This level of flexibility gives you complete control over how your backups are scheduled and archived, and gives you the control to maintain frequent recent backups, and an archive of less frequent backups.

Download Combined Backup
In response to user feedback we have added a 'Download Combined Backup' feature which enables users to combine their backup packets so they can download their full backup in one file.

Enhanced mySQL Database Backups
The myRepono API has been updated to support enhanced mySQL database backups. this functionality dramatically increases the quantity of mySQL database data which can be backed up, improving efficiency with some hosting providers by over 100%!

10 Steps to Secure Your Web Hosting Account

It may seem obvious that the security of your login credentials for FTP, your control panel and so fourth is important, but approximately 42% of users use simple text passwords without numbers or symbols.

It's also frighteningly common that users use their username as their password. When you consider the username usually forms part of the server directory path and the fact that this is disclosed in environmental variables, then you realise they may as well not use login details.

For a basic level of security your username and password should always meet the following criteria:

• Minimum 8 characters in length, preferably 10 or more.
• Contains both capital and lowercase characters.
• Contains at least 1 numeric character.
• Does not contain any dictionary words.
• Is not used for any accounts with third-party websites/services.
